We had the absolute pleasure of working with the gorgeous actor, Aimee Kelly, to create a stunning dress and cape for her wedding ceremony! Our team had the best time with Aimee over the course of a year, each fitting was so much fun and it was wonderful to bring Aimees vision to life through our made to measure process.
We caught up with Aimee post wedding to find out all the exciting details…

Hey Aimee! Firstly, a Huge congrats on your wedding day. You looked absolutely stunning, and your wedding looked an absolute dream! Tell us a bit more about your special day
“Thank you! It was everything we wanted and more. Our daytime Ceremony took place at Burgh House in Hampstead Heath and then Spiritland Royal Festival HALL for the second half of the day.
The whole day felt special but mostly just to have my closest friends and family in one intimate space together. Some of my best friends travelled from Australia, Scotland, and the USA so we were super grateful for that.
Our ceremony was super intimate of 65 of our nearest and dearest.”
We were absolutely honoured to create your dress and had so much fun with you at your fittings! Tell us a little bit about how you found your dress and what was important for you? How did you choose THE ONE!?
“It’s quite a lovely story actually, I took my 5 best friends to the first ever fitting at Andrea Hawkes. They then all chose a dress that they could imagine me in. They then gave them to me to try on without me knowing who chose which and then I tried each one on and we all collectively decided on the one I went for!”
Let’s talk capes! We started out with the idea of a veil, what made you change your mind to a cape?
“We were obsessed with this look! I feel like the cape was the absolute deal breaker. I feel like capes are timeless on a wedding dress and as soon as I tried it on to my best friends/bridemaids I just felt we all had the same feeling that it completed the ensemble.”
Have you ever had a dress fully made to measure before? Did you enjoy the experience? What was your favourite part of the fitting process?
“I don’t think any dress making experience can ever compare to your wedding dress and I knew I had to soak up every moment hence having my best friends and Mam come along to the sessions.
My favourite moments would be the first and last fittings; to see the dress from what it was when we first chose it to the changes it went through of changing to halter neck and back and designing the trail, both were just lovely highlights in the process.”

The toile fitting (mock up of your dress) was such a lovely moment, did you find it helpful to see your dress in cotton before we made in silk? Did you make any changes?
“I did! I played around with the idea of turning my cape fabric into a veil which still worked but I went back to cape and glad I am stuck with that decision.”
Fabric was so important to you and our silk satin immediately grabbed your attention, how did you feel wearing natural silk on your wedding day?
“As soon as I felt the Silk Satin I knew that was the one!”
Your accessories were incredible! Tell us about THOSE shoes and the custom bow we made for your hair?
“The custom bow was an incredibly cute touch as it had my new initials (AB) I pranced around in this and my AH pjs the day after the wedding! My shoes were kindly gifted by Jimmy Choo and honestly I hope I am buried in them.”
On the morning of your wedding, whilst getting ready, you wore a pair of our silk PJ’s personalised to you with your initials. Did you feel comfy and relaxed whilst getting ready?
“Looking back, I felt oddly calm considering I was about to walk down an Isle. I was certainly in the silk pjs, they’re super comfy. I still wear them!”

What was your favourite thing about working with the AH team?
“The best thing about working with AH is how lovely the entire team were from start to finish- thank you guys!”
Will you wear your dress again for a special occasion?
“I am currently in the process of having it dry cleaned for special storage but I could definitely get away with wearing the dress on its own as a slip dress without the cape – it’s timeless.”
