We have a very special ‘Hawkes’ wedding to share with you all today. Andrea’s brother Neil and his wife Ruth married on the 3rd September at Stone Barn, The Cotswolds. Having a wedding in the family is always such a wonderful experience especially when the bride chose to wear Andrea Hawkes design for their special day!
“The minute my brother asked Ruth to marry him, I was beyond excited for them both. Then when Ruth came to me and said, “I’d love you to make my wedding dress “ well it just went up a level of excitement! There is always something so special about making a wedding dress for someone who is connected to you. However, it was an absolute honour to be able to make a dress for the person my brother was to marry” – Andrea
Over the course of this year the entire AH team have worked with beautiful Ruth to create a bespoke, made to measure, version of our Clarice dress. Two layers of gorgeous soft silk with hand sewn pearls for added detail. Ruth decided to extend the train on her dress and paired with a simple, elegant veil. We’ll be delving a little further into Ruth’s dress experience in another post (stay tuned!) but for now let’s have a look at their special day surrounded by loved ones.
Getting Ready
The morning of the wedding, Ruth got ready with P&A Make-Up, who we always recommend to our brides for their effortless, natural make-up looks. They created a gorgeous golden, autumnal make-up look for Ruth which complimented her dress perfectly! Abigail Constanza worked on Ruth’s stunning hair to create delicate waves and a glamorous side part – we love this nod to a vintage feel.
It’s not very often that your bridal designer on hand to dress you on the morning of your wedding but Andrea loved spending this special time with Ruth. Helping her into her two layered dress, making sure it was steamed to perfection and positioned beautifully ready for the day ahead.

Walking down the aisle, Ruth looked incredibly elegant, utterly feminine and the dress just emphasised her natural beauty. I was so proud of what we had created for her.”

We absolutely loved bringing Ruth’s dress vision to life and it was so special to see how Ruth styled her bespoke Clarice Design with delicate gold hair accessories and deep, jewel toned florals. She just looked incredible!!!

The Groom, Neil
In keeping with the beautiful Autumnal colours of the day Neil wore a Burgundy Suit and blue tie. We loved this smart, sophisticated colour palette – a really lovely take on a traditional grooms outfit. I think you will all agree Neil got it spot on!

The Ceremony & Venue
Stone Barn is part of Cripps & Co, a gorgeous setting in the heart of the Cotswolds. With natural stone, roaring fires and rustic features it was the perfect setting for Neil and Ruth to celebrate with their friends and family.

Bridesmaids
We can’t get enough of Ruth and Neil’s colour choices for their wedding, they give us all the Autumn feels. Even the bridesmaids were rocking a dreamy earthy green velvet which we just adore!

Wow! The flowers that Ruth and Neil chose blew us away, the colours and arrangements were so beautifully curated by Go Wild Flowers. The perfect inspiration for an early Autumn wedding.

The Reception & Party
Celebrating with Family and Friends in Stone Barn, Ruth and Neil had a wonderful meal followed by one of our favourite wedding bands The Velvet Notes (these guys know how to start a party!)

Ruth has a little change of outfit for the reception, removing the top layer of her AH design to reveal a silk slip dress which was then paired with our Luna beaded belt!
